Pope Benedict XVI will find a church in Mexico “vibrant”, which has “a lot to say and contribute,” said the rector of the Pontifical Mexican College of Rome, Armando Navarro Flores.

In an interview with Notimex the priest said the Catholic institution faces the same challenges of society and argued that this approach will see the Pope during his apostolic visit, scheduled from 23 to 26 March next.

“One thing is the Church in the press and over the Church in his own. The latter not only bishops, but priests baptized thousands and thousands of living consistently with their faith and apostolic “he said.

“The pope will find a church immersed in a globalized world, yet what that means from the standpoint of political, economic and cultural. The problems of mankind are also evident in Mexico, with its particular connotations, “he added. (more…)

Mexico’s Slim aims new venture at the U.S Internet TV market

Mexican tycoon Carlos Slim is teaming up with former CNN talk show host Larry King to launch an online television venture called Ora.TV.

Slim and King, the co-founders of the network, said that Ora will produce high-quality video programming for smartphones, computers and Web-connected television sets.

Jon Housman, the former head of digital journalism at Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp., has been named chief executive of the venture, Ora said in a statement. (more…)

A recommendation that Mexico release a French woman serving a 60-year kidnapping sentence sparked a heated debate Thursday about whether the Frenchwoman should be retried or released, and whether that would be fair.

The fate of Florence Cassez has become a hot-button issue because the defense has pointed out flaws in the case against her, while others point out that she was identified by the victims.

An opinion written by a Supreme Court justice and published Wednesday recommended that Cassez be freed because authorities violated her rights to a fair trial and consular assistance. That opinion must still be debated and voted on by a five-justice panel of the court, and no date has been set for that discussion. (more…)

After participating in the Minning Mexico Day in this city, the economy minister revealed that even his most recent trip to Japan, among other things, was to meet with executives from major automotive OEMs with investments in Mexico, who expressed their concern about Brazil’s announcement to amend the agreements with Mexico in the automotive category. Aeromexico will incorporate seven new aircraft to its fleet


Boeing 787′s  are part of its business plan and long term,  allowing it to open five new international destinations, said Andres Conesa, CEO of the airline.

Distrito Federal • The company Aeromexico incorporated at least 7 new Boeing 787 Next Generation aircraft, which will begin operations between 2013 and 2015. Of these, two are owned and four leased.

In addition to Carlos Slim, who is the top of the list with 76 billion dollars, ten others are also Mexican, according to Forbes, they also have more than one billion dollars, among them are the owners of the two TV network in Mexico, mining companies, former owners of big corporations who sold their shares and the most  wanted man in the world “El Chapo” Guzman , the leader of the federation ( Sinaloa Cartel). In total, six of the 11 billionaires are owners or shareholders of companies that were once state-owned and were sold during the presidency of Carlos Salinas de Gortari. Carlos Slim, 72 years old, his fortune was reduced to 5 billion dollars compared to 2011, however remains the richest in the world with 69 billion dollars, but is closely followed by Bill Gates, who has a fortune of 61 billion.
